Story Update
May. 16th, 2005 01:57 amJust a little bit of news regarding my aforementioned professional sale to SLIPSTREAMS, edited by John Helfers.
First off, it'll be out sometime in 2006, according to what information I've dug up. A bit of a wait, but that's publishing for you.
Second, and this is what I find fascinating, other authors appearing in SLIPSTREAMS include Jane Lindskold, Jean Rabe, Dave Smeds, Pati Nagle, Donald J. Bingle, Alan Dean Foster, and Robert J. Sawyer. That's not a full listing, that's just what I've found out while poking around for other author announcements. Considering that I've loved Jane Lindskold's work for years, really like Robert Sawyer's work, and am at least moderately fond of most of the rest listed above, this is a big deal to me. It's validation, in some sense. It's me going "Hey, cool! I'm going to be in the same anthology as some pretty big names! Rock on!"
So let this be my own little kick in the butt to not rest on my laurels. Must write more, and sell more. Must find more anthologies to submit to. Really must get at least a halfway decent Website together
so people can find me.
Oh, and in other news, unless my memory is mistaken, three more of my reviews were quoted: Diane Duane's WIZARD'S HOLIDAY (review of the hardback quoted for the paperback), FIREBIRDS edited by Sharyn November (hardback review quoted on paperback), and Edith Patou's EAST (hardback review quoted on paperback). This on top of the recent "double play" quote on Jim Butcher's DEAD BEAT and Kim Harrison's EVERY WHICH WAY BUT DEAD (double play = two quotes from two different reviews of two different previous books posted on two different review sites)
Sorry, I'm in a bragging mood tonight. Feeling good. On slightly down side, entered the White Wolf World of Darkness novel contest and didn't make it past first round. Oh well. Next!
