Our getting to Tulsa was an epic journey in its own right, involving 4 airports, 2 airlines, and 12 hours, during which time we briefly saw Greensboro, Memphis, Houston, and finally Tulsa. But it was all a karmic balancing act, and we got in just fine, if a little late.

Today was all kinds of awesome, as I saw many authors and got copious amounts of books signed.
I'm not going to do LJ links for this, as that's just wacky, but among the many I saw today were Tiffany Trent (Hallowmere), Jeaniene Frost (Halfway to the Grave), Michele Bardsley (humorous vampire romances), Jen Barnes (The Squad, Tattoo), Marie Brennan (Doppelganger, Midnight Never Comes), Rachel Caine (Weather Warden series, Morganville Vampires), Mark del Franco (Unquiet Dreams), Justin Gustainis (Black Magic Woman), Mark Henry (Happy Hour of the Damned), Caitlin Kittridge (Night Life), Ilona Andrews (Magic Burns), Melissa Marr (Wicked Lovely, Ink Exchange), Jeanne Stein (The Becoming), Shanna Sendson (Magic, Inc), Rachel Vincent (Stray, Rogue), Dakota Cassidy (The Accidental Werewolf) and Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon (Valdemar series, among others). Whew!

Did I forget other stalwarts, such as Carrie Jones, Devon Monk, and Sarah Rees Brennan? I swear, everytime I turned around, writers! All part of the fantastic Fangs, Fur and Fey minicon going on at Conestoga... so many awesome urban fantasy (and paranormal romance, and YA fantasy) authors.

The strangest/most entertaining event was the "author speed dating hour" during which time participants were split up at a number of tables. Every four minutes, a different set of authors would sit down at your table and engage in frenzied, baffled conversation until the cue to switch yet again. Those poor writers, they made valiant attempts to introduce themselves and their books, and make nice with us fans. I think everyone had fun, even if some folks were a little overwhelmed and/or unsure as to what they should be doing. :>

At any rate, it was one heck of a day. My brain is somewhat fried. But for more information on any of the fine authors mentioned above, and some that weren't mentioned, just get yourself over to the Fangs, Fur, Fey community, as can be found on my profile page. As a lover of urban fantasy, I was in my element today. Woohoo!
