Breaking Radio Silence...
Oct. 5th, 2009 05:15 pmTo bring my fellow reviewers some news that may or may not be of interest, importance, or significance. It seems that the Federal Trade Commission has some ideas about the role of internet/blogging reviewing, and what constitutes compensation....
One article about this can be found at Galley Cat where they touch upon the bare bones of the matter.
An interview with a spokesperson can be found here where it becomes quickly clear that someone, somewhere, clearly doesn't understand the reality of being a reviewer and what it really means to get free books/samples/etc for review.
Chances are good this won't impact the solitary reviewer, but it's good to be forewarned nonetheless.
