Shake, Rattle, and Roll, Baby.
Aug. 23rd, 2011 02:12 pmWell, THAT was new and different for me.
Southwest Virginia is not what I'd call a hotbed of seismic activity. I can count the number of rumblers I've experienced in the past 15 or so years on one hand, and still have fingers left over to poke the cat. And then there was today.
Everything shook. The cats fled. I was too surprised and baffled to do more than sit in my chair and go WTF.
It looks like a 5.9 hit somewhere east of us, across the mountains and more into central Virginia, about 40 miles west of Richmond.
In short, we're fine. But boy, that was a surprise.
