Around 4:45 PM today, Groucho went on to the next big adventure. We couldn't keep him any longer... he was ready to go, and all we did was grant him a quiet, peaceful, dignified way on to his next life. I know we did the right thing, but it hurts nonetheless. He was, in my eyes, the perfect cat. Hard act to follow. So send him some good wishes to speed him on.
I'll miss him. No one else can perch on the back of my chair, steal my food, and sleep on my head quite like him. But I'm glad he's no longer suffering.
For those interested, the vet was 95% sure at the end that it was lymphoma, with -maybe- a 30-40% chance of regaining any semblance of health with chemo and all that. Bah.
He was 6 or so. We're sending him back to the mountains where he was born. It seemed fitting.
Going to go get food and throw it for the other cats in his name.
